You tell yourself you'll start early this year. October turns into November, the odd birthday card and a new pair of shoes eat into the money you meant to save, and somewhere around the second week of December you're doing math in a parking lot, wondering how you're going to cover everyone on your list.
Then January's statement shows up, and it's worse than you remembered.

Sound familiar?
It rarely goes wrong all at once. It's a dozen small, separate decisions — spread across weeks, cards and shops — that nobody is adding up.
Family, kids, friends, teachers — each with their own idea, price and deadline.
Wrapping, postage, a last-minute extra — small amounts that quietly add up.
Was that bought already? Is it wrapped? Receipts end up in bags, inboxes and the car.
Without a number to aim for, it's hard to know if you're on track until it's too late.
Saving starts late, so the shopping happens in a rush — and on whatever card is closest.
None of this means you're bad with money. It means you don't have one place where it all adds up.
From chaos to control
An envelope here, a savings pot there, a gift list in your notes app. The planner joins them into one system, so saving and spending finally talk to each other.

The idea behind it
In 1909, a bank in Pennsylvania started something called a Christmas Club: you put a little money in every week, and it was paid out just before the holidays. It worked — not because of interest, which was usually tiny, but because the money was set aside before you had the chance to spend it.
Over time most people moved away from them. The interest was low, the rules and fees were strict, and the accounts were costly for banks to run. The idea itself — set the money aside first — never stopped making sense.
The Holiday Gift Budget Planner rebuilds that same idea without a bank in the middle. No transfers to remember, no fees, no locked account — just a number that grows every week you log your spending.
Example figures. The planner does this calculation for you every week.
Why it works
You only ever type into the yellow cells. The formulas do the rest.
Enter one number — Christmas Day is already built in — and the planner works out the weekly target you need.
See how much you've saved, what's still to save, and a progress bar that fills as you go.
Recipients, groups, gift ideas, budgets, status and wrapped — together on one list.
Log purchases by category, payment method and recipient, so you always know where the money went.
Log a gift against someone's name and their actual spend fills in on the Gift List.
The Monthly Summary shows what flowed into your gift fund and how your pace compares to your target.
Inside the planner · 5 connected tabs
Every tab feeds the next. Log a purchase once and your savings, gift list and dashboard all update on their own.

02 · Savings Tracker

03 · Daily Spending
Date, category, description, recipient and payment method. It's the tab that feeds everything else.
04 · Gift List
Recipient, group, gift idea, budget, actual, what's left, status and wrapped — for every person on your list.
05 · Monthly Summary
A 12-month view of spending money, what went into your gift fund, gift and other spending, and whether you're on pace.
Previews show sample data. You'll enter your own numbers.
How it works
Setup takes a few minutes. After that, you just log what you spend.
Enter your total savings goal and your normal weekly spending money. Christmas Day is already built in, so your weekly target is calculated for you.
Log everyday purchases in one simple list. Whatever you don't spend each week rolls into your gift fund automatically.
Log each gift against the person it's for. Your gift list shows budget, actual and what's left — before you check out.
The earlier you start, the smaller the weekly amount needs to be.

What's included
Formulas are already built in. You fill in the yellow cells; everything else calculates itself.
The difference

You might be thinking
You're not being asked to find new money. The planner works with whatever is left over from your normal week-to-week spending — even small, uneven amounts add up over the weeks before Christmas.
You don't need to build or understand any formulas — they're already done. You only type into the yellow cells: your goal, your weekly spending money and what you buy.
Nothing breaks. Add purchases whenever you get to them and the totals catch up automatically. There's no streak to lose.
Most gift lists track spending against money you already have. This one also helps you build that money first, from your regular weekly spending.
